Bucovina

Started off with a couple of phone calls. We were all in the mood for an outing, not surprisingly.

“Where to?” was the only question to be answered. We answered it. Easy!

Why easy? Because the choice we were about to make was, to say the least, one of the safest bets available. We the people, the tourists, the photographers, were focused on experiencing friendly locals, cozy accommodation, great food and definitely gooood imagery.

Bucovina is all that and more, so Bucovina became our destination for a few mild and rewarding summer days.

We got to the part where we had to choose exactly what/where/when to experience. Not easy.

One must choose between scenery, tradition, gastronomy, religion… We’ll start by portraying a spiritual journey back in time: monasteries of Bucovina. Medieval heritage, they are now part of UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage. Out of a much longer list, we’ll exhibit fragments from: Arbore, Moldovita, Sucevita and Putna. Don’t miss out.

Now this was an actual joyride; composed of breakfasts on the run, horse riding, cold beer, visiting a pottery workshop in Marginea. And a blacksmith in Ciocanesti. Not necessarily in that order.

We also witnessed some exquisite scenery in the Rarau mountains. Definitely not least, we time-travelled with Mocanita – a narrow railed, last century train. Imagine that.

All in all we were blessed with a variety of touristic, human and photographic experiences, the kind that one wants to find again and recommends to all.

Hop in and enjoy this ride!
