Approximately 40 km from Bucharest lays Comana Nature Park, the largest protected area in Câmpia Română. The area is better known as the Delta near Bucharest, for its characteristic delta ecosystem.
If you don’t feel like taking a longer trip to The Danube Delta – although you should if you ask us – and want to stay close to Bucharest then a short trip to Comana Nature Park is an enjoyable way to spend your day. Here you can visit two floral reserves unique in Romania which nurture kneeholy and the Balkan Peony which is celebrated by the local villagers every May during Sărbătoarea Bujorului.
Just at the edge of the forest, near the protected area is Comana monastery built on the ruins of a monastery founded by Vlad Țepeș more than 500 years ago.
